WE AREHERE TO LISTEN, TALK THINGS OVER AND ADVOCATE FOR YOU.
When your child receives a diagnosis, it is normal to feel overwhelmed with worry, grief, and concern for your child’s future. Fighting for your child’s appropriate education can increase this stress. Michele understands this as she has had to advocate for her own daughter with special learning needs. She can help navigate the world of special education laws and be an effective advocate for your child.
Examples of Services Provided
The first thing Michele will do is set up a time to learn about the issues your child is facing and discuss ways she may be able to help.
Review your child’s IEP or 504 Plan
Are you concerned about your child’s upcoming IEP meeting? Are you worried that your child may need additional services, modifications or accommodations in school? Do you just want to make sure you are on the right track? Michele can review your child’s records, and make recommendations for an appropriate education (flat fee available).
Prepare for and/or attend an upcoming IEP meeting with the school team
Michele can help you strategize for your upcoming meeting with the school, and make sure you know what to expect at the IEP meeting. If necessary, she can attend the meeting to advocate for your child.
If your issue with the school district is such that you may need to file due process, file a complaint, attend mediation or a resolution meeting, Michele can help you through this process.
IDEA ensures that all children with disabilities are entitled to a free and appropriate education to meet their unique needs and prepare them for future education and independent living. In Illinois, by the time a child turns 14 1/2 , a transition plan for postsecondary goals and services should be in place. Michele can help with this process.
